Life & Work

Bio: Calypso Rose was born Linda McCartha Monica Sandy-Lewis on the second of the two islands called by locals "T&T" and by others "Trinidad and Tobago".

She began songwriting at age thirteen after seeing a thief pull the eyeglasses right off of a woman's face, yielding "Glass Thief". Now into her 80s she's written thousands of songs. She is the first woman to have achieved star status in the music world of T&T.
