Bio:
Alan Bishop is a singer, songwriter, bass player, and record label owner.
He works in and with far-reaching musical idioms.
He was bassist and singer for the experimental band Sun City Girls. And has worked under the aliases Alvarius B. and Uncle Jim.
He played in Paris 1942 with Maureen Tucker of the Velvet Underground, and with skate punk group JFA.
He now plays in Cairo-based The Invisible Hands.
Bishop is co-founder, together with Hisham Mayet, of Sublime Frequencies, based in Seattle and devoted to music and images from around the world, principally Southeast Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East.
