Makaya McCraven is a beat scientist. A cutting-edge drummer, producer, and sonic collagist is a multi-talented force whose inventive creative process and intuitive style of performance defy categorization. In this performance in celebration of Red Bull Music Festival Chicago, he gives us a taste of what he’s capable of in advance of a very special concert with a 10-piece ensemble on November 29th at South Shore Cultural Center-Robeson Theater. In this live session, McCraven is joined by Irvin Pierce on saxophone, Junius Paul on bass, Matt Gold on guitar and Greg Spero on piano and keys.
