Merima Ključo & Jelena Milušić: M Ključo "Snovidjenje" No.1 Kletva (Curse)

Go to → Merima Ključo
@ Morgenland Festival Online Edition 2020 Snovidjenje (Apparitions) is a song cycle by Merima Ključo based on Romanian, Croatian, Sephardic and Kosovar traditional music. Scored for contemporary accordion and voice, these are songs of love, passion and desire, but also convey a sarcastic approach to life and death as in the humorous songs “Kletva” (curse) and “Lume”. Ključo’s conceptual idea is to introduce a new, radical approach to accordion playing, creating a context where modern contemporary music meets traditional song. Kletva (Curse) All who betray love May God smite them in turn! May they grovel, writhing Like a serpent, like a snail! May wind and dust Be their destiny in this world! Here, even this little creature The ant, as one calls it With its stout body and spindly head Its slender and pretty waist Skittering under one’s path Knows how to keep its word! Only we “good” people Don’t know how honor our word. All who betray love May God smite them in turn!
