The Making Of A Child

Go to → Marcel Camargo
This one is a string quartet I wrote while my wife was pregnant with our daughter and it's dedicated to them. It captures a lot of the things I was feeling at the time - anticipation, tenderness, love, excitement, fear...but mostly a new, bigger kind of love. It has a lot of Ravel in it, some Jobim here and there and it's a little film-score-y at times too. The piece is performed here by the great Quatuor Esca, a group of outstanding musicians I met when we played a Michael Bublé concert together in Montréal. We had the time to do a quick reading of this piece, just for fun, and they seemed to understand right away what the piece was about and were able to bring it to life so beautifully that I was shocked. Not because I didn't expect them to be amazing musicians, but because they were able to translate my feelings so accurately at first glance. I flew back to Montréal months later to work with them on this recording and I hope we get to make a lot more music together in the future! *Recorded at Planet Studios in Montréal *Ghyslain Luc Lavigne - recording engineer *Kent Hooper - mixing engineer (at the house of BIG in Nashville) *Louis LeFebvre and Daniel Blouin - project guardian angels ...amazing contribution by all of these folks here, the project would not be what it is without them - thank you!
