Turtle Island String Quartet, "A Love Supreme" Parts II-IV (Coltrane, arr. Balakrishnan)
David Balakrishnan's arrangement of John Coltrane's seminal work, "A Love Supreme", has been one of the mainstays of the Turtle Island Quartet's repertoire since the mid 2000s, and has brought the quartet high acclaim and praise, including a Grammy award for their recording of the piece (and other Coltrane compositions) in 2007. This concert was perhaps the last public performance of this piece for the foreseeable future, and features all members of the quartet on solos, including Benni von Gutzeit's improvised cadenza between the second and third movements.
