This video footage is taken from the Displaced Voices concert at King's Place on 19 January 2019. Cayenna Ponchione conducts the Orchestra of St John's with poets, Halema Malak, Merzia Qahramany, Timilehin Amusan, and Ftoun Abou Kerech. The Orchestra of St John's Displaced Voices Project amplifies the voices of young refugees through the creation of 'orchestral backing tracks' for their spoken word poems in collaboration with composer Toby Young . The project builds on the work of writer Kate Clanchy at the Oxford Spires Academy whose work with the students resulted in an anthology, 'England" Poems from a School', published by Picador.
