STANDARDS FROM FILM is a Deep Dive into the Origins and Evolution of 12 of the most Iconic Jazz Standards, From Film, in History. Starting from their origins in the Films they are from, we analyze all the original Harmonies and then follow them through the decades in the hands of the innovators of this music as they reshape them time and time again, each to their own musical taste. We talk about the Film History as well as the actors stories who portrayed the characters and plots surrounding the music. We watch the scenes from the films with the scores, and we listen to and analyze the most iconic versions in history. Each class you will receive a PDF packet of all the versions discussed including the original film score. Everything has been transcribed and written out my myself. Then each class ends with a short performance of the song discussed, and a Question and Answer session. This course is open to all levels and all instruments and voice. From beginners to the most advanced, everyone who has an interest in this music can get something from these classes. It's Cultural and Musical History.
