Blues Shuffle in 7 | “Seven Things in 7”

Blues shuffles, gospel 2-beats, and swinging jazz grooves are not usually played in 7/4 time, but they can be. And they sound totally natural and fresh this way. I love The Blues, so playing 12-bar blues in 7/4 in these 3 styles is a special joy for me, and gives me surprising new ideas. About “Seven Things in 7”: Odd time meters can be tricky to play in at first, but once you get familiar with them, that will change- each one has its own symmetry and swing. For me, 7/4 and 7/8 are two of the most comfortable odd time meters to play in. So I came up with this playlist showcasing different styles of music, all in 7/4 or 7/8. I hope you enjoy them and maybe give it a try yourself.
